Get more information about a charge on my bill?

Contact the department that initiated the charge. You may wish to review the department’s web site for their policies and procedures first (search for the department from the campus home page: http://berkeley.edu). See “Related Sites” for contact links.

Get my financial aid to pay my CARS account?

This happens automatically once all criteria for aid disbursement are met. See your online offer letter at http://bearfacts.berkeley.edu. The site will indicate any missing documents that may be making your package incomplete. Note that loans must be accepted by entering a dollar amount in the “Accept” column for the amount you want to borrow. Also ensure that you are enrolled in a sufficient number of class units. After all criteria are satisfied, the awards will transfer to CARS in 3-5 days.

Claim a Governor’s Scholarship?

See http://www.cagovernorsscholars.org/. The check should be payable to “UC Regents” and mailed to:

Use an outside agency scholarship check to pay my bill?

Submit the check to the Financial Aid Office (see http://students.berkeley.edu/fao/). They will process the scholarship as a credit to your CARS account. Allow 3-6 weeks for processing.

Give my parents (or other third party) authorization to discuss my account with UCB?

To give someone else access to see your CARS billing statements online through e-Bill, simply provide them with your Sallie Mae Net.Pay Profile PIN and your Student ID number. They can access the site via the Resource section of BearFacts (http://bearfacts.berkeley.edu).
